AC Milan officially signs Croatian star Luka Modric

Massimiliano Allegri, coach of Italian football club AC Milan, announced on Monday evening that the club had officially signed veteran Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić, captain of Real Madrid.

Modrić joins Milan on a free transfer after his contract with the Spanish giants expires.

Modrić will join Milan as part of a rebuilding plan after a disappointing season in which the Rossoneri finished eighth and failed to qualify for any European competition.

Modrić, 39, announced in late May that he was leaving Real Madrid, bringing an end to a trophy-laden career with the club that began in 2012 after his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Croatian star, who won the 2018 Ballon d'Or, has won nearly 30 trophies, including six Champions League titles, with Real Madrid.
