Microsoft confirms work on a new generation of Xbox console


Microsoft announced Tuesday that it is working on a new generation of Xbox video game consoles, nearly five years after the last model was released. The anticipated console will be available through several online game stores.

The company provided only limited details about the new product, which is being developed in partnership with semiconductor manufacturer AMD, which will develop a dedicated chip for the consoles, according to a video posted on YouTube.

Xbox chief Sarah Bond, who appears in the video, did not announce a release date for the new console.
