Jonathan Anderson appointed Artistic Director of Dior Women's Collections

Designer Jonathan Anderson has been officially appointed artistic director of Dior's women's collections, succeeding Maria Grazia Chiuri, the LVMH-owned fashion house announced in a statement on social media on Monday.

The Northern Irish designer, who was at the helm of Dior's men's collections in mid-April, is now responsible for both collections at the Parisian house, an unprecedented move for the iconic brand.

"Jonathan Anderson is one of the greatest creative talents of his generation," said LVMH Chairman Bernard Arnault in a statement. "His unique artistic imprint will be a vital asset in writing the next chapter in the history of Dior."

Jonathan Anderson, who will present his first men's collection for Dior on June 27 during Paris Fashion Week, left Loewe, a subsidiary of the same group, in mid-March. He had injected new life into the classic Spanish brand during his 11 years at the helm, making it a celebrity favorite.

Anderson, 40, is considered a distinguished talent in the fashion world. For years, Loewe's shows have been a meeting place for stars from Timothée Chalamet to Pedro Almodóvar and Tilda Swinton. Many other stars have also served as ambassadors for the brand.

Anderson, a graduate of the prestigious London School of Fashion, began working in marketing at Prada and then launched his own label in 2008 under the name JW Anderson. Loewe is known for its impeccable tailoring and extensive use of luxurious fabrics, as well as leather and metal.

He replaces Maria Grazia Chiuri as head of Dior's women's group, who left the position on Thursday after nine years.
