Kanye West appears in Manhattan federal court to support P. Diddy

American rapper Kanye West appeared in Manhattan federal court on Friday to support singer P. Diddy, who is on trial for sex trafficking and criminal misconduct.

West did not testify but watched the highly publicized trial in a nearby courtroom and left after about 20 minutes.

When asked by ABC whether he had appeared in court to support P. Diddy, he nodded and replied, "Yes."

The appearance of the controversial artist and businessman comes the day after the testimony of Jen, one of P. Diddy's former lovers, who recently claimed that the rapper forced her against her will to have sex with men.

The jury in Manhattan federal court has been hearing from a series of witnesses for about a month who have spoken of P. Diddy's control over her. Diddy, the 55-year-old founder of Bad Boy Records, is accused of forcing women, including singer Cassie, his partner for a decade, to engage in sexual prostitution with male sex workers. According to the prosecution, P. Diddy's employees were responsible for delivering drugs to the victims to force their compliance and silence them.

The rapper denied the charges against him. His defense acknowledged that Cassie was subjected to violence, but insisted that she voluntarily participated in the sex sessions with other men. During her testimony, the singer asserted that she participated in these practices because she had no other choice.
