US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Qatar Airways had placed a "record" order for 160 Boeing aircraft worth more than $200 billion, as he signed a series of deals in Doha alongside the country's emir.
"It's over $200 billion, but it's 160. That's fantastic. That's a record," Trump said after signing alongside Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
"It's the largest aircraft order in Boeing's history. That's very good."
Trump's remarks came after a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement with Qatar, which included defense deals, including MQ-9B drones, and followed about two hours of talks with the emir.
The visit to Qatar is the second stop on Trump's Gulf tour, which began in Riyadh, where he made a surprise announcement lifting sanctions on Syria and met with Syrian interim president Ahmad al-Sharaa.
Relations between the two governments came under the spotlight after Qatar offered Trump a $400 million luxury jet to serve as his new presidential jet, before it was transferred to his personal use.
Trump's presidential motorcade departed the airport for downtown Doha, driven by two Tesla Cybertrucks, ruggedly designed in the distinctive red livery of the Lekhwiya (Qatari Internal Security Forces).
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the world's richest man, was a major contributor to Trump's 2024 reelection campaign.
